Spain Dominates Bulgaria in Sofia with a Resounding Victory
Sofia, September 4, 2025 – The Spanish national football team delivered a display of dominance and efficiency against Bulgaria at the Stadion Vasil Levski, in the group stage of the European qualification for the World Cup. The match, refereed by Serbian Srdan Jovanovic, culminated in a clear victory for the Spaniards, reflecting their overwhelming superiority in possession and goal-scoring opportunities.
From the opening whistle, Spain imposed their rhythm, controlling the ball with 78% possession. The opening goal came early, in the 5th minute, thanks to a goal by M. Oyarzabal, assisted by M. Zubimendi. The lead was extended in the 30th minute with a goal by M. Cucurella. Before halftime, M. Merino practically sealed the match with a goal in the 38th minute, assisted by L. Yamal. The only moment of tension for Spain in the first half was the yellow card shown to R. Le Normand in the 39th minute.
The second half continued in the same vein, although without any further goals. Spain maintained its dominance, generating numerous goal-scoring opportunities. Bulgaria, on the other hand, was barely able to trouble the Spanish goal, with only 3 shots, none of them on target.
