Botafogo defeats Juventude in a decisive victory at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos
Rio de Janeiro, April 6, 2025 – Botafogo secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Juventude in a match corresponding to the second round of the Brazilian Serie A, played at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos. The match, officiated by Rodrigo Jose Pereira de Lima, was marked by Botafogo’s dominance in possession (57%) and their clinical finishing.
Igor Jesus opened the scoring in the 24th minute, assisted by Artur. In the second half, Matheus Ponte sealed the victory with a goal in the 62nd minute, assisted by Cuiabano. Despite a disallowed goal for Igor Jesus due to offside in the 71st minute, Botafogo displayed clear dominance. Juventude, with 43% possession, attempted to respond with 14 shots (3 on target), but failed to overcome the solid rival defense. The match was punctuated by numerous yellow cards: two for Botafogo (A. Barboza and Gregore) and three for Juventude (E. Batalla, D. Giraldo and Adriano Martins). Despite the numerical superiority in cards, Juventude couldn’t counteract Botafogo’s offensive game. Botafogo finished with 13 shots (5 on target), while Juventude had 14 (3 on target).
