The match, corresponding to Round 24 of the Brazilian Serie A, ended with a 1 to 0 score in favor of the home team.
The first half was filled with cards, with multiple bookings for both teams and a sending-off for Botafogo just before halftime, clearly complicating their strategy. However, Botafogo managed to resist and capitalize on their opportunities.
In the second half, S. Rodriguez scored the only goal of the match in the 48th minute, assisted by A. Montoro, unleashing euphoria among the home fans. Despite playing with one man down and having less ball possession (33% against Atlético-MG’s 67%), Botafogo managed to maintain their lead and secure the three points.
