Palmeiras Edges Out Bolívar in Thrilling La Paz Encounter
La Paz, April 24, 2025 – Palmeiras defeated Bolívar 3-2 in a thrilling match at the Estadio Hernando Siles in La Paz, for the third matchday of the 2025 CONMEBOL Libertadores group stage. Despite Bolívar’s overwhelming possession (77%), Palmeiras proved more clinical in attack.
Flaco López opened the scoring in the 19th minute, and Estevao extended the lead before halftime (45′). Bolívar fought back in the second half, with Fabio Gomes scoring twice (56′ and 69′), capitalizing on their possession advantage and numerous shots on target (6 out of 18). However, Mauricio scored for Palmeiras in the 73rd minute, securing the victory for the Brazilian side. Despite a late yellow card for Felipe Anderson in the 90th minute, Palmeiras held on to their lead. The match was characterized by a significant difference in possession, with Bolívar dominating the ball, while Palmeiras proved lethal in their limited opportunities. The victory gives Palmeiras a significant advantage in the group stage.
