Lyon Crushes Bayern in Women’s Champions League Quarter-final
Olympique Lyonnais secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final clash at the FC Bayern Campus Platz 1 in Munich. The match, officiated by Olatz Rivera Olmedo from Spain, saw Lyon dominate possession (54%) and fire 19 shots, 10 of which were on target.
The French side took the lead in the 35th minute through a goal by Temwa Chawinga. Despite a missed penalty by Heaps in the 45th minute, Lyon extended their lead in the second half with goals from Delphine Cascarino (65′) and Damaris Egurrola (65′). Bayern managed only one shot on target and were outplayed in all facets of the game. A yellow card to Sarah Zadrazil in the 45th minute was the only disciplinary action for the Bavarians.
