Chesterfield secures narrow victory in low-scoring affair
Chesterfield edged out Barrow 1-0 in a tightly contested League Two match at the SO Legal Stadium in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The game, refereed by S. Mather, was a low-scoring affair with Chesterfield dominating possession (69%) compared to Barrow’s 31%.
Despite their possession advantage, Chesterfield managed only 3 shots on goal, with one finding the back of the net through M. Jacobs in the 78th minute. Barrow, on the other hand, had 6 shots, 4 of which were on target, but failed to convert any of them.
The match saw several yellow cards. Barrow received three cautions (Barrow – 51′, Barrow – 84′, Barrow – 88′), while Chesterfield received just one (Chesterfield – 53′). A lack of clinical finishing and resolute defending from both sides prevented a higher-scoring game. Chesterfield’s win further strengthens their position in the upper reaches of the table.
