Saudi Arabia Defeats Bahrain in Riffa
Riffa, Bahrain – In a match played at the Stad al-Bahrayn al-Watani, Saudi Arabia defeated Bahrain in a World Cup Qualification – Asia match. The encounter, refereed by Uzbekistan’s Ilgiz Tantashev, was defined by Saudi effectiveness in front of goal.
Saudi Arabia opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a goal by M. Al Juwayr, assisted by S. Al Dawsari. Despite having less ball possession (46% compared to Bahrain’s 54%), the Saudi team managed to be more decisive in their attacks.
Bahrain, although dominating possession and taking a greater number of shots (16 in total, although only 2 on target), failed to convert their opportunities. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, took advantage of one of their attacks in the second half to extend their lead in the 78th minute with a goal by A. Al Oboud, assisted by A. Majrashi.
