Bahia suffered a defeat against Corinthians in a tense and incident-packed match at the Casa de Apostas Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador. The game, corresponding to the first round of the 2025 Serie A, ended with a 1-2 victory for the visitors.
Gilberto opened the scoring for Bahia in the 45th minute with an assist from Luciano Juba. However, the expulsion of Everton Ribeiro in the 51st minute, after accumulating a yellow and a red card, marked a turning point in the match. Bahia, a man down, suffered under Corinthians’ dominance, who found the equalizer in the 90th minute thanks to a goal from H. Hernandez, assisted by Breno Bidon. A goal disallowed for offside by Corinthians’ Joao Pedro in the 81st minute complicated matters for the home team.
