Iceland Triumphs in Baku with Convincing Victory Over Azerbaijan
Baku, November 13, 2025 – Iceland demonstrated their superiority at the Neftçi Arena, defeating Azerbaijan with a solid performance in the ninth matchday of the World Cup Qualification Group Stage. The Icelandic team controlled the match with 62% possession, generating a total of 15 shots, 5 of which were on target.
Aron Gudmundsson opened the scoring in the 20th minute, following a precise assist from Ísak Bergmann Johannesson. Kristján Ingason Ingason extended Iceland’s lead in the 39th minute, assisted by Jóhann Berg Gudmundsson, solidifying his team’s dominance.
