AVS Deals Heavy Blow to Estoril in Vila das Aves
In a match held at the Estádio Clube Desportivo das Aves, AVS decisively defeated Estoril Praia with a final score of three goals to zero. Despite significantly lower ball possession (29% compared to Estoril’s 71%), AVS capitalized on its opportunities and showed great effectiveness in front of the opponent’s goal.
The first half passed without goals, but with two yellow cards for AVS players: G. Mendonca in the 34th minute and L. Rivas in the 43rd minute. In the second half, AVS came out with a renewed mentality, and D. Duarte opened the scoring in the 54th minute. Tomane extended the lead in the 75th minute, virtually sealing the victory for the home team. In stoppage time, A. Algobia sealed the match with the third goal in the 90th minute.
Although both teams generated a similar number of shots (14 for AVS and 12 for Estoril) and corners (9 for each), AVS proved to be more forceful in the opponent’s area. Estoril, which dominated ball possession, failed to translate its control into goals. Referee Luís Godinho cautioned two Estoril players (R. Guitane and Ferro) in the second half.
