Thrilling Draw in Florianópolis as Avai and Atletico Paranaense Battle to Stalemate
Florianópolis, Santa Catarina – Avai and Atletico Paranaense battled to an entertaining draw in a match held at the Estadio da Ressacada, as part of the Brazilian Serie B. Despite Avai dominating possession with an impressive 72%, it was Atletico Paranaense who drew first blood.
Luiz Fernando opened the scoring for Atletico Paranaense in the 26th minute, assisted by L. Esquivel. The first half also saw Joao Cruz of Atletico Paranaense receive a yellow card in the 25th minute and Cleber of Avai being cautioned in the 38th minute.
In the second half, Atletico Paranaense extended their lead in the 76th minute with a goal from Renan Peixoto. However, Avai responded swiftly, with Marquinhos Gabriel scoring in the 78th minute to narrow the gap. Despite their territorial dominance and the chances created, Avai couldn’t convert to equalize, finishing the match with a tie. The match was intense in fouls, with 18 committed by Atletico Paranaense and 11 by Avai. In the final minutes, Thayllon of Avai and L. Esquivel of Atletico Paranaense received yellow cards. Referee Joao Vitor Gobi had a busy night managing the match.
