Austria Edges Out Serbia in Thrilling UEFA Nations League Clash
The Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna hosted a captivating match between Austria and Serbia in the UEFA Nations League 2024 A/B Playoffs. Austria dominated possession (69%) and created numerous scoring chances, registering 22 shots, although only 4 were on target. Serbia, despite having less possession (31%), proved more clinical.
Michael Gregoritsch opened the scoring for Austria in the 37th minute, assisted by Marko Arnautovic. However, Serbia equalized in the 62nd minute through Lazar Samardzic, assisted by Ognjen Mimovic. The final result saw a narrow victory for Austria, who controlled the game despite Serbian pressure in the second half. Despite the disparity in shots, Serbia’s efficiency was evident with their well-taken goal. The match was officiated by Joao Pedro Pinheiro from Portugal.
