Red Bull Salzburg Secures Decisive Victory in Vienna
Vienna, Austria – Red Bull Salzburg convincingly defeated Austria Vienna at the Generali Arena in a match corresponding to the 11th round of the Austrian Bundesliga. The match, refereed by Walter Altmann, saw Salzburg display great effectiveness in front of goal, despite having less ball possession (43% compared to Austria Vienna’s 57%).
Salzburg opened the scoring early, in the 8th minute, with a goal from S. Kitano following an unassisted play. The lead was extended in the 16th minute thanks to K. Alajbegovic, assisted by E. Baidoo. In the second half, T. Trummer sealed the victory with a goal in the 56th minute, again assisted by S. Kitano.
Austria Vienna, although dominating possession and generating a greater number of shots (18 in total, though only 2 on target), failed to capitalize on their opportunities. They accumulated 12 corners, but the Salzburg defense remained firm. The home team also committed fewer fouls (7 compared to Salzburg’s 9) and received one yellow card (L. Pazourek in the 78th minute). P. Ratkov of Salzburg was also cautioned in the 89th minute. Salzburg, with fewer shots (7 in total, with 3 on target), showed greater precision and decisiveness in the opponent’s area, taking a valuable victory from the Austrian capital.
