Aucas defeats Independiente del Valle in a controversial low-scoring match
Quito, March 28, 2025.- Aucas defeated Independiente del Valle 1-2 in a match played at the Estadio Cooprogreso Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda. The game, officiated by Yerson Zambrano, was marked by controversy and a lack of clear scoring chances.
Aucas took the lead in the 19th minute with a goal from B. Montenegro, although an earlier goal by the same player was disallowed in the 9th minute. Independiente del Valle equalized in the 29th minute with a goal from L. Zarate and took the lead in the 45th minute with a goal from M. Hoyos. The second half saw a flurry of yellow cards for Independiente del Valle in the closing stages.
