Tigres Take Victory in San Luis in a Hard-Fought Match
San Luis de Potosí – In a close encounter at the Alfonso Lastras Ramirez Stadium, Tigres UANL defeated Atlético San Luis on the opening day of the Liga MX Clausura 2025. The match, officiated by Daniel Quintero Huitrón, was characterized by intense play and several fouls.
Despite slightly favorable possession for Tigres (52% compared to Atlético San Luis’s 48%), the game was even. The first half was scoreless, although not without yellow cards, with F. Gorriaran and J. Sanchez cautioned for Tigres, and A. Duarte for Atlético San Luis.
The second half was more exciting. M. Flores opened the scoring for Tigres in the 49th minute. Atlético San Luis responded in the 74th minute with a goal from Joao Pedro Galvao, assisted by B. Galdames, temporarily tying the score. However, M. Flores appeared again in the 77th minute, this time assisted by A. Gignac, to give Tigres the victory.
Atlético San Luis tried to react, but the Tigres defense remained solid. Overall, Atlético San Luis attempted more shots (13) than Tigres (8), although only one of those shots was on target. The home team also managed more corner kicks (5) than the visitors (3). Tigres, meanwhile, committed more fouls (15) than Atlético San Luis (5).
The match concluded with Tigres winning by a score of 2 to 1.
