Vitória mounted a comeback to defeat Atlético Mineiro in a thrilling match at the Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto in Belo Horizonte. The game, part of the 2025 Brazilian Serie A’s third round, ended with a 3-2 victory for Vitória.
Despite possessing 63% of the ball and taking 30 shots (9 on target), Atlético Mineiro couldn’t control the game. Vitória, with 37% possession, proved more clinical in front of goal. Lucas Halter opened the scoring in the 48th minute, assisted by Gustavo Silva. Fausto Vera equalized for Atlético in the 57th minute. Matheuzinho put Vitória ahead in the 65th minute. Igor Gomes scored for Atlético in the 88th minute, but it wasn’t enough to prevent defeat. The match was marked by tension, with a total of five yellow cards shown (three to Vitória and two to Atlético Mineiro).
