Atlético-MG Struggles to Hold Lead Against Dominant Mirassol
Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais – In a hard-fought match at the Arena MRV, Atlético-MG secured a narrow victory against Mirassol, despite being dominated in possession and opportunities. Vitor Hugo’s early goal in the 9th minute, assisted by Rony, gave the home team the lead. However, Mirassol imposed their game, controlling the ball with 70% possession and generating a total of 23 shots, although only 5 were on target.
The match was filled with tension, with numerous cards shown by referee Rafael Rodrigo Klein. Atlético-MG ended the game with ten players after J. Alonso was sent off in the 44th minute, further complicating their situation. The home team accumulated four yellow cards in addition to the red, showing the frustration against Mirassol’s constant pressure. The visitors also saw two yellow cards. Mirassol, although insisting until the end with 11 corners, failed to convert their superiority into goals. Atlético-MG, with 30% possession, defended tooth and nail to secure the three points at home.
