Atlético de Madrid Edges Out Alavés in a Hard-Fought Match
Madrid, Spain – Atlético de Madrid secured a hard-earned victory at home against Alavés in a La Liga match corresponding to matchday 20, played at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. The only goal of the game came in the 48th minute, courtesy of A. Sorloth, who capitalized on a precise assist from P. Barrios.
The match was quite contested, with Atlético de Madrid dominating possession with 54% compared to Alavés’ 46%. However, Alavés displayed a solid defense that made things difficult for the home side. The first half was characterized by tactical and tight play, with two yellow cards shown to P. Ibanez of Alavés in the 6th minute and J. Cardoso of Atlético de Madrid in the 27th minute.
Following Sorloth’s goal at the beginning of the second half, Alavés attempted to react, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
