Thrilling Match at Jalisco Ends with Club America Victory over Atlas
Guadalajara, Mexico – A match full of intensity and controversy took place at the Estadio Jalisco, where Club America defeated Atlas in a match corresponding to Matchday 6 of the 2025 Liga MX Apertura.
Club America took an early lead thanks to a penalty converted by B. Rodriguez in the 19th minute. Atlas responded just before halftime with a goal from G. del Prete in the 45th minute, leveling the score. The start of the second half saw Atlas take the lead with a goal from D. Gonzalez in the 49th minute.
The match remained tense with opportunities for both teams. In the 74th minute, A. Fidalgo equalized for Club America. Towards the end of the match, A. Saint-Maximin scored the goal that gave Club America the lead. In added time, V. Davila missed the penalty and later scored the last goal of the match.
The match was marked by high intensity, reflected in the numerous cards shown: three yellow and one red for Atlas, and four yellow for Club America. Ball possession was clearly in favor of Club America, with 70% compared to 30% for Atlas.
The refereeing of Marco Antonio Ortiz Nava was the subject of debate, especially after the disallowing of a goal for Atlas via VAR in the 56th minute and the missed penalty and subsequently scored at the end of the match.
