Thrilling Draw in Arouca: Goal-Filled Match with Plenty of Cards
Arouca, Portugal – In a vibrant and hard-fought match at the Estádio Municipal de Arouca, Arouca and Rio Ave drew in a game full of emotions and goals. The match, corresponding to the third round of the Primeira Liga, left fans on the edge of their seats.
Arouca dominated possession of the ball with 55%, but Rio Ave proved to be more effective in front of goal. The first goal of the match came in the 24th minute, when J. Fontan put Arouca ahead. However, Rio Ave responded in the second half. Clayton equalized in the 49th minute with an assist from Andre Luiz. Subsequently, D. Spikic put Rio Ave ahead in the 65th minute thanks to an assist from Clayton.
The match continued at a frenetic pace. A. Trezza scored for Arouca in the 75th minute, but Clayton scored again for Rio Ave in the 76th minute, this time with an assist from N. Athanasiou. Just when it seemed that victory was going to Vila do Conde, N. Djouahra scored in the last minute of regulation time to seal the final draw.
The match was also marked by the intensity in the game, reflected in the numerous fouls committed by both teams (13 by Arouca and 16 by Rio Ave). Referee Helder Filipe Claudio Carvalho showed three yellow cards to Arouca players (H. Lee, I. Barbero, J. Fontan) and two to Rio Ave players (N. Abbey, A. Ntoi).
Regarding statistics, Arouca took 13 shots, of which 5 were on target, while Rio Ave tried their luck on 15 occasions, with 7 shots on target. Despite the dominance in possession, Arouca only managed 4 corners, while Rio Ave settled for 2.
