FC Porto Dominates in Arouca Despite Red Card
Arouca, Portugal – In a hard-fought match at the Estádio Municipal de Arouca, FC Porto emerged victorious despite playing a significant portion of the game with ten men. The match, part of the Primeira Liga’s Matchday 7, was marked by numerous cards and a goal disallowed by VAR.
Porto took an early lead with a goal from Samu in the 12th minute, assisted by V. Froholdt. However, the joy was short-lived as a subsequent goal was disallowed for offside. The first half continued with intensity, evidenced by the numerous yellow cards shown to both teams.
The second half was even more dramatic. The sending-off of M. Fernandes in the 48th minute due to a second yellow card complicated matters for Porto. Despite being a man down, the team managed to extend their lead with a goal from D. Gul in the 51st minute. F. Moura increased the difference in the 60th minute, assisted by B. Sainz.
Arouca tried to respond, but the Porto defense remained solid. Zaidu sealed the victory for the visitors with a goal in the 85th minute, assisted by A. Costa.
FC Porto controlled 54% of possession and had 16 shots, 5 of which were on target, while Arouca had 46% of possession and 10 shots, with only 2 on target. The match ended with a total of 8 corners for Porto and 4 for Arouca. Discipline was an issue for both sides, reflected in the 5 yellow cards for Arouca and 3 yellow cards and one red card for Porto.
