Aris defeats OFI in a controversial match
Aris Thessaloniki defeated OFI Crete 2-0 in a match played at the Stadio Harilaou Kleánthis Vikelídis, corresponding to the second matchday of the Conference League group stage. The match, held on April 5th, 2025 in Thessaloniki, was marked by Aris’s superiority in possession and goal-scoring opportunities, but also by controversy.
Luis Morón was the star of the match, scoring both Aris goals. The first came from the penalty spot in the 61st minute, while the second, in the 90th minute, sealed the victory. Aris had a goal disallowed by VAR in the 70th minute.
OFI, on the other hand, showed little offensive effectiveness, barely creating danger in front of the rival goal. Androutsos received a yellow card in the 16th minute. Despite the overwhelming difference in possession (63% for Aris against 37% for OFI), the scoreline could be considered tight considering the match’s events. Aris had 18 shots (8 on target) and 8 corners; while OFI registered 6 shots (only 1 on target) and 2 corners.
