Angers Defends With Ten Against a Dominating Paris FC
Angers, France – In an opening Ligue 1 match at the Stade Raymond Kopa, Angers managed to hold the score despite playing with ten men for a significant portion of the second half, against a Paris FC that dominated ball possession. The match, refereed by François Letexier, saw Angers take an early lead thanks to a goal by E. Lepaul in the 9th minute, assisted by J. Lefort.
However, Paris FC imposed their game with 68% possession and a total of 17 shots, although only 7 of them found the target. Angers, with 32% possession, fell back and looked for counterattacks, registering 7 shots in total.
The match became more complicated for Angers when L. Mouton received a red card in the 57th minute. Despite being a man down, Angers resisted the attacks of Paris FC, who persistently sought the equalizer with 6 corners in their favor. The defensive discipline of Angers, despite the yellow cards for L. Doucet of Paris FC, and Y. Belkhdim and C. Arcus of Angers, was key to securing the result.
The match, corresponding to the first day of the 2025 season, ended without further goals, leaving a bittersweet taste for Paris FC, who dominated but could not materialize their superiority on the scoreboard, and a valuable victory for Angers, who demonstrated the ability to suffer and defensive solidity.
