Marseille Crushes Angers in Dominating Offensive Display
Angers, France – Olympique de Marseille dominated Angers at the Stade Raymond-Kopa, securing a resounding victory with a final score of six to two. From the opening whistle, Marseille imposed their rhythm, controlling possession with 66% and generating a barrage of scoring opportunities.
A. Gouiri opened the scoring in the 19th minute, following an excellent assist from M. Murillo, kicking off a rampant first half. M. Greenwood extended the lead in the 24th minute, followed by H.J. Traore in the 34th minute, both assisted by Emerson. T. Weah capped off Marseille’s offensive display with a goal in the 40th minute, assisted by H.J. Traore, leaving the score at a comfortable four to zero.
Angers managed to pull one back before halftime with a goal from A. Sbai in the 45th minute, but Marseille’s superiority was evident. In the second half, Marseille continued to press, although Angers slightly improved their performance.
I. Paixao scored Marseille’s fifth goal in the 88th minute, assisted by P. Hojbjerg. Deep into injury time, J. Allevinah scored the second goal for Angers in the 90th minute, assisted by H. Djibirin, but it was too late to change the course of the match.
Angers, with 34% possession and only six shots, struggled to contain Marseille’s attack. The match also saw yellow cards for H. Belkebla of Angers and P. Aubameyang of Marseille. Ultimately, a convincing victory for Marseille, who demonstrated their offensive prowess on rival territory.
