Paysandu falls to América Mineiro in a thrilling match
Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais – América Mineiro defeated Paysandu 2-3 in an exciting match played at Estádio Raimundo Sampaio, corresponding to the seventh round of the 2025 Brazilian Serie B championship. The match, officiated by Paulo Belence Alves Dos Prazeres Filho, was marked by tension and yellow cards, with four for Paysandu and one for América Mineiro.
Despite having less possession (39% compared to América’s 61%), Paysandu put up a fight and managed to score two goals. Rossi opened the scoring in the 59th minute, followed by J. Benitez’s goal in the 70th minute. However, América Mineiro’s effectiveness in attack proved decisive. The goals by Willian Bigode (86th minute) and Julio Cesar (89th minute), the latter assisted by Mariano, sealed the victory for the home team.
América Mineiro generated 13 shots on goal (4 on target), while Paysandu had 11 (5 on target). Both teams showed similar intensity in terms of fouls committed. A hard-fought match with chances until the final whistle, leaving Paysandu with a bitter defeat.
