Almeria suffers surprising setback against Racing Santander at home
In a match full of emotions and twists, Almeria fell at home to Racing Santander by a score of two to three. The match, corresponding to the fourth matchday of the Segunda División, was played at the UD Almería Stadium under the refereeing of Andrés Fuentes Molina.
Almeria started strongly, taking the lead with goals from A. Embarba in the 11th minute and N. Melamed in the 19th minute, assisted by S. Arribas and Leo Baptistao respectively. However, the expulsion of D. Lopy in the 27th minute changed the course of the match. Racing Santander took advantage of the numerical superiority and reduced the deficit with a double from Jeremy Arevalo in the 57th and 59th minutes, the first assisted by I. Vicente. G. Puerta sealed the comeback in the 75th minute, after a pass from C. Michelin.
Almeria dominated possession with 43% and generated more goal opportunities with 15 total shots, 5 of which were on target, against Racing Santander’s 11 shots, 7 of which were on target. Racing Santander committed more fouls (18) than Almeria (15), and both teams saw several yellow cards. Despite Almeria’s effort to try to equalize the score, Racing Santander took a valuable away victory.
