Alianza Lima snatched a hard-fought draw against Deportes Iquique in a thrilling match at the Estadio Alejandro Villanueva. Despite dominating possession (54%), with 10 shots (2 on target), Alianza Lima struggled more than expected against a Deportes Iquique side that fought until the very end.
The game started with a controversial disallowed goal for Deportes Iquique in the 10th minute. Alianza Lima took the lead in the 42nd minute with a goal from Kevin Quevedo, who later received a yellow card in the 43rd minute. The first half was marked by tension, with three yellow cards for Deportes Iquique (Blazquez 41′, Soto 45′, and Gonzalez 50′).
