Albirex Niigata and Cerezo Osaka played an exciting match in the 4th round of the 2025 J1 League, held at the Denka Big Swan Stadium in Niigata on March 2nd. The match, refereed by Atsushi Uemura, ended in a 2-2 draw.
Cerezo Osaka controlled possession (54%), but Albirex Niigata was more incisive in attack, attempting 15 shots (6 on target) compared to Cerezo Osaka’s 9 (3 on target). K. Yamura put the home side ahead in the 17th minute, but M. Nakajima equalized for Cerezo Osaka in the 28th. After the break, M. Hasegawa put Albirex Niigata back in the lead in the 63rd minute, only for Rafael Ratao to score in the 90th to make it 2-2. Cerezo Osaka received three yellow cards (Thiago Andrade, S. Tanaka and H. Kida), while Albirex Niigata remained without any cautions. Despite Albirex Niigata’s corner kick advantage (9 to 5), the match ended in a thrilling draw.
