Albania Secures Victory Over Latvia in Dominating Performance
Tirana, September 9, 2025 – Albania secured a solid victory over Latvia at the Arena Kombëtare in Tirana, in a match corresponding to the World Cup Qualification stage. The sole goal of the match came in the 25th minute, courtesy of a penalty converted by K. Asllani.
Albania dominated the match with 63% ball possession, generating 13 shots, although only 3 were on target. Latvia, with less possession (37%), tried to create danger with 9 shots, of which 2 required the Albanian goalkeeper to intervene. The match was marked by some intensity, with 10 fouls committed by Latvia, who received 3 yellow cards, while Albania committed 8 fouls and did not receive any cards. The match, refereed by Polish referee Damian Sylwestrzak, corresponded to the sixth matchday of the European group stage qualification for the 2024 World Cup.
