Athletic Club and Alaves Draw in Intense Match at Mendizorroza
Vitoria-Gasteiz, December 15, 2024 – Athletic Club and Deportivo Alaves played out a 1-1 draw in a thrilling encounter at the Estadio de Mendizorroza, in matchday 17 of La Liga 2024. A closely fought match with chances for both sides ended in a share of the points.
Athletic took the lead in the tenth minute through a goal from Unai Gomez. However, Alaves leveled the score in the 67th minute with a goal from Joan Jordan. The match was characterized by its intensity and numerous yellow cards, with two for each team. Alaves slightly dominated possession (52%), while Athletic had more shots on goal (9 compared to 6 for Alaves), although the majority missed the target.
