Al Taawon defeated Al-Raed in a thrilling match played at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Buraidah. The game, corresponding to matchday 29 of the Saudi Pro League, ended with a 4-3 scoreline in favor of the home team.
Al-Raed took the lead with a penalty scored by A. Sayoud in the 22nd minute. However, Al Taawon responded with goals from Andrei Girotto (30′) and R. B. Martinez Tobinson (41′), the latter also from a penalty. An own goal by A. Al Yousif (45′) and a goal by W. Al Ahmad (49′) extended Al Taawon’s lead before halftime. Al-Raed managed to reduce the deficit with goals from A. Qasmi (54′), O. Gonzalez (74′), and a late goal.
The match was marked by its intensity, with numerous fouls committed by both teams (15 by Al Taawon and 13 by Al-Raed), as well as yellow cards: three for each team. Al Taawon dominated possession with 56%, registering 14 shots (6 on target), while Al-Raed had 15 shots (5 on target).
Despite Al-Raed’s efforts, Al Taawon secured the victory thanks to a solid performance and greater efficiency in front of goal. The referee was Majed Mohammed Alshamrani from Saudi Arabia.
