Al-Ittihad FC Showcases Authority in Baghdad Against Al Shorta
In a match held at the Al-Zawraa Stadium in Baghdad, Al-Ittihad FC demonstrated their superiority by defeating Al Shorta. The encounter, corresponding to the group stage of the AFC Champions League, was marked by intensity and cards.
Despite Al Shorta taking an early lead with a goal from B. Shakir in the 5th minute, assisted by M. Ashabi, Al-Ittihad FC reacted strongly. M. Diaby equalized in the 17th minute with an assist from M. Doumbia. Fabinho put the visiting team ahead in the 29th minute.
The second half brought more emotions. D. Pereira, from Al-Ittihad FC, was sent off after receiving his second yellow card in the 50th minute. However, the numerical disadvantage did not stop Al-Ittihad FC, who extended their lead with a double from H. Aouar (60′ and 76′), both goals assisted by M. Diaby.
Al Shorta, despite having more possession (57%) and more shots (20 in total), failed to convert their opportunities. Al-Ittihad FC, more effective, took advantage of their 13 shots to score four goals. The match ended with a clear victory for Al-Ittihad FC at the Al-Zawraa Stadium.
