Al-Hilal Edges Out Al Khaleej Saihat in Thrilling Encounter
Al-Hilal Saudi FC secured a 2-3 victory over Al Khaleej Saihat at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam on Saturday, November 23rd. The match, part of the Saudi Pro League’s 11th round in the 2024 season, was a captivating affair refereed by Latvia’s Andris Treimanis.
Marcos Leonardo gave Al-Hilal the lead in the 12th minute, assisted by Milinkovic-Savic. Mitrovic doubled the advantage in the 37th minute, thanks to a pass from Al Dawsari. Al Khaleej Saihat responded strongly, however. Despite missing a penalty in the 45th minute, Al Salem scored twice in quick succession to level the score before halftime. Al-Hilal had a goal disallowed by VAR in the first half. Al Salem again scored for Al Khaleej early in the second half putting them ahead. Martins added another goal for Al Khaleej Saihat in the 85th minute, but it was not enough to overcome Al-Hilal’s first half goals.
Al-Hilal dominated possession (64%) and had more shots on goal (16, 6 on target), while Al Khaleej Saihat generated chances with 12 shots (6 on target) despite having less possession (36%). Both teams played aggressively, evidenced by the numerous fouls: 13 by Al-Hilal and 12 by Al Khaleej. Al Khaleej Saihat received two yellow cards, while Al-Hilal remained without cautions.
