Al-Ittihad Edges Out Al Shabab in Thrilling King’s Cup Semifinal
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Al-Ittihad secured a 3-2 victory over Al Shabab in a dramatic King’s Cup semifinal clash at the Al Inma Bank Stadium at King Abdullah Sport City on April 1st, 2025. The match was a rollercoaster ride right until the final whistle.
Fabinho gave Al-Ittihad the lead from the penalty spot in the 14th minute. However, Al Shabab fought back strongly in the second half, with Cristian Guanca scoring two goals in the 64th and 67th minutes to turn the game around. But Al-Ittihad refused to give up, scoring two late goals courtesy of Danilo Pereira in the 90th minute to snatch a hard-fought win.
The match was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams displaying high intensity. Al-Ittihad enjoyed slightly more possession (52%), registering 15 shots (8 on target), and earning 9 corners. Al Shabab managed 12 shots (6 on target) and 1 corner. Both teams received yellow cards; Al-Ittihad received 2 and Al Shabab 1.
Despite the defeat, Al Shabab proved to be a worthy opponent, battling until the very end. Al-Ittihad’s victory sends them through to the King’s Cup final.
