Al-Ettifaq edges out Al Orubah in a thrilling match
Dammam, Saudi Arabia – Al-Ettifaq secured a 3-2 victory over Al Orubah in an exciting match on the seventh round of the Saudi Pro League. The encounter took place at the Prince Mohamed Bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam.
Al Orubah started strong and opened the scoring in the 12th minute thanks to a goal by Cristian Tello, assisted by Emmanuel Boateng. However, Al-Ettifaq responded quickly and levelled the match in the 44th minute through a goal by João Costa, assisted by Vitinho.
Before half-time, Al-Ettifaq took the lead with a goal from Georginio Wijnaldum in the 45th minute, assisted by Moussa Dembélé. The situation became more complicated for Al-Ettifaq in the same minute, when Abdullah Radif received a red card.
Al Orubah took advantage of their numerical superiority in the second half and levelled the match in the 74th minute with a goal from Jóhann Guðmundsson, assisted by Cristian Tello. Tello himself scored the winning goal for Al Orubah in the 84th minute, assisted by Naif Al Quamiri.
Despite the win, Al-Ettifaq were less effective in attack than their opponents, with only 8 shots (3 on target) compared to Al Orubah’s 13 (8 on target). Al-Ettifaq had more control of the ball (55% possession) and committed fewer fouls (12) than Al Orubah (15).
Al Orubah had a great performance but ultimately couldn’t take home the three points.
Al-Ettifaq took an important victory despite playing with a man down for most of the match.
