Al-Ahli Jeddah Crushes Buriram United in AFC Champions League Quarter-Finals
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Al-Ahli Jeddah delivered a dominant performance in their AFC Champions League 2024 quarter-final match against Buriram United, securing a resounding 3-0 victory at the Al Inma Bank Stadium at King Abdullah Sport City. The match, officiated by Ahmad Alali from Kuwait, took place on April 26th, 2025.
Al-Ahli Jeddah controlled the game from start to finish, boasting 66% possession. Goals came early and often: Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring in the 4th minute, assisted by Roberto Firmino. Galeno doubled the lead in the 6th minute, with an assist from Ibanez. Roberto Firmino completed the scoring with a third goal in the 30th minute, assisted by Merih Demiral.
Buriram United struggled to create chances, managing only 6 shots (2 on target), compared to Al-Ahli Jeddah’s 17 shots (5 on target). Frustration led to three yellow cards for the Thai team, while Al-Ahli Jeddah maintained impeccable discipline without receiving any cautions. Despite late substitutions, Buriram United were unable to reduce the deficit. The victory firmly places Al-Ahli Jeddah on course for the semi-finals.
