Hermannstadt snatches last-minute victory over Rapid in Sibiu
AFC Hermannstadt edged past Rapid Bucureşti with a 1-0 win at Sibiu’s Stadionul Municipal in a Romanian Liga I matchday 30 clash. A closely fought game, with possession evenly split (47% Hermannstadt, 53% Rapid), was decided in the dying moments by a goal from Cristian Negut.
Despite Rapid having more shots (13 to Hermannstadt’s 12), it was the home side’s accuracy that proved decisive. While Rapid failed to register a single shot on target, Hermannstadt managed five. Both teams received a yellow card; Capusa for Hermannstadt and Manea for Rapid. Negut’s late goal in the 90th minute secured a vital three points for the home side in their fight for survival. The match, officiated by Florin Andrei, was played before a passionate crowd in Sibiu.
