Kawasaki Frontale and Kashima Antlers played a thrilling match at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo, corresponding to matchday 16 of the 2025 J1 League. The match, refereed by Futoshi Nakamura, ended with a 2-3 score in favor of Kashima Antlers.
Kawasaki Frontale took the lead in the 7th minute with a goal by Ao Tanaka assisted by Yasuto Wakizaka. However, Kashima Antlers responded with a goal by Yuya Funabashi in the 45th minute, leaving the score tied at half-time. In the second half, Kashima took the lead thanks to a goal by Koki Tagawa in the 65th minute. Despite their superior number of shots (20 to 12), Kawasaki Frontale couldn’t overturn the result. Possession was evenly split at 50% for both teams. The match was marked by yellow cards shown to Kim Tae-Hyeon (Kashima) and Ao Tanaka (Kawasaki).
