Chelsea and Liverpool played a thrilling match at Stamford Bridge, London, this Saturday, May 4th, 2025, in the Premier League’s gameweek 35. The game, refereed by Simon Hooper, ended with a 3-1 victory for Chelsea.
The home side took an early lead through a goal from Enzo Fernandez in the 3rd minute, assisted by Pedro Neto. Liverpool dominated possession (64%), but Chelsea were more clinical in front of goal (7 shots on target out of 17). A J. Quansah own goal in the 56th minute extended the Blues’ advantage. However, Virgil van Dijk pulled one back for the Reds in the 85th minute, assisted by Alexis Mac Allister. In added time, a penalty converted by Cole Palmer secured the victory for Chelsea.
The match was marked by tension, with four yellow cards shown to both teams. Van Dijk and Quansah received yellow cards for Liverpool, while Chalobah and Sancho received them for Chelsea. Despite Liverpool’s greater possession, Chelsea demonstrated greater effectiveness in front of goal.
