Monterrey Falls to Pachuca in Thrilling Reclassification Match
Guadalupe, Mexico – Estadio BBVA hosted a thrilling Liga MX Clausura 2024 reclassification match between Monterrey and Pachuca. Pachuca emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline, despite Monterrey taking the early lead.
Germán Berterame put Monterrey ahead in the 51st minute, assisted by Jesús Corona. However, Pachuca responded strongly in the second half. Eduardo Bauermann scored in the 83rd minute, and Samuel Rondón added another in the 87th minute to secure the comeback win.
Pachuca dominated possession (55%) and created more scoring chances (20 shots, 7 on target), while Monterrey had 45% possession and 12 shots (5 on target). Both teams received yellow cards; Monterrey two and Pachuca none. The match was officiated by Luis Santander. Despite the loss, Monterrey showed fight and determination until the final whistle. Pachuca’s victory propels them to the next stage of the tournament.
