Club Tijuana thrashes Santos Laguna in Torreón! The border team defeated Santos Laguna with a resounding 4-0 victory in a match played at the Estadio Corona in Torreón on April 20, 2025, corresponding to matchday 17 of the Liga MX Clausura. The game was marked by Tijuana’s offensive superiority, making the most of their chances.
Francisco Boya opened the scoring in the 16th minute, assisted by Roberto Arciga. Kevin Castañeda extended the lead in the 30th minute, also assisted by Arciga. In the second half, Jordi Zúñiga added to the goal fest with two goals, one in the 54th minute and another in added time (90′), both assisted by Arciga. Despite Santos Laguna’s possession advantage (59%), Tijuana’s finishing was key to the victory. Santos Laguna registered 16 shots, only 3 on target, while Tijuana had 11 shots, 6 on target. Both teams committed 13 fouls each. Referee Marco Antonio Ortiz Nava, from Mexico, showed yellow cards to Francisco Boya of Club Tijuana and Carlos Lozano of Santos Laguna.
