Renaissance Berkane Crushes CS Constantine in CAF Confederation Cup Semi-final
Berkane, Morocco – Renaissance Berkane secured a resounding 4-0 victory over CS Constantine in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final at the Stade Municipal de Berkane on Saturday, April 20, 2025. The home side dominated the match, showcasing clear superiority throughout.
Youssef Mehri opened the scoring in the first minute, assisted by Omar Lamlioui. Berkane’s dominance was evident in their possession (54%). Papa Ibrahima Bassene doubled the lead in the 21st minute, with an assist from Anas Khairi. Lamlioui scored the third in the 55th minute, assisted by Hamza Manaout, virtually sealing the victory. While Lamlioui had a goal disallowed for offside in the 84th minute, he secured his brace in stoppage time (90th minute), again assisted by Manaout.
CS Constantine, with low possession (46%) and only three shots (none on target), offered little offensive threat against Renaissance Berkane’s power. The disparity was reflected in the statistics: 15 shots for Berkane compared to 3 for Constantine. The Algerian team received one yellow card (Bouchaib Dib), while Berkane saw one yellow card (Mohamed Camara). The result leaves Renaissance Berkane in a commanding position for the second leg.
