Pumas Stages Comeback to Defeat Whitecaps in Thrilling CONCACAF Champions League Match
Mexico City – In a thrilling quarter-final match of the 2025 CONCACAF Champions League played at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario before a passionate crowd, UNAM Pumas staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1. The match, played on April 10th at 2:30 AM, was filled with intensity and excitement until the final whistle.
The Whitecaps took the lead in the 33rd minute with a goal from S. Berhalter, assisted by D. Rios. However, G. Martinez equalized for Pumas in the 37th minute. The match became tense with several yellow cards issued to both teams; three to Vancouver and six to Pumas. In the final minutes, Pumas’ dominance in possession (58%) and shots (19, 8 on target) resulted in the winning goal. I. Pussetto scored in the 89th minute, assisted by R.
