Fortaleza EC secures victory in hard-fought match against Mirassol
Fortaleza EC defeated Mirassol 2-1 in a thrilling match played at the Estádio José Maria de Campos Maia in Mirassol, São Paulo, on April 6th, 2025. Despite Mirassol’s overwhelming possession (70%), Fortaleza proved more clinical in front of goal.
Emmanuel Martínez opened the scoring for Fortaleza in the 15th minute, assisted by Moisés. The match became tense with several yellow cards: Martínez (18′), Clayson (45′), and E. Mancuso (45′) received cautions in the first half. The second half continued with the same intensity, with Fernández picking up a yellow card in the 89th minute.
Despite their superiority in possession and shots (19 shots for Mirassol compared to 7 for Fortaleza), Mirassol only managed to convert one of their 4 shots on target, scored by Cristian Renato in the 90th minute, assisted by Matheus Davo. Cristian Renato also received a yellow card at the end of the match. Ultimately, Fortaleza’s victory was deserved thanks to their effectiveness in attack despite having less possession.
