Inter Miami Dominates Cavalier FC in CONCACAF Champions League
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Inter Miami CF secured their place in the next round of the CONCACAF Champions League with a convincing 2-0 victory over Cavalier FC at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The match, officiated by Mario Escobar from Guatemala, was a Round of 16 clash in the 2025 edition of the tournament.
Inter Miami’s dominance was clear throughout, reflected in their 69% possession. While Cavalier put up a fight, the American team’s superiority was undeniable. T. Allende opened the scoring in the 61st minute with an assist from S. Busquets, and L. Suárez sealed the win with a goal in the 83rd minute.
Despite the comfortable victory, the game was not without its tension. A total of eight yellow cards were shown: one to J. Calvin of Cavalier in the 5th minute, one to S. Busquets of Inter Miami in the 24th minute, one to L. Suarez of Inter Miami in the 66th minute, and four to Inter Miami in the 89th and 90th minutes. Inter Miami had 12 shots (5 on target), compared to Cavalier’s 5 (1 on target). The home side also dominated corner kicks, with 8 to Cavalier’s 3. VAR intervened to disallow a Cavalier goal for offside in the 45th minute.
