Newport County Thrashes Gillingham in Thrilling Rodney Parade Encounter
Casnewydd, Wales – Newport County secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Gillingham in a League Two match played at Rodney Parade on March 4th, 2025. The game, officiated by A. Bannister, was dominated by Newport County striker B. Kamwa’s hat-trick. Kamwa opened the scoring in the 9th minute and added two more goals in the 27th and 30th minutes, assisted by D. Ajiboye and C. Antwi respectively. Despite Gillingham enjoying more possession (58% to Newport County’s 42%), they only managed to pull one back in the 69th minute through a goal from J. Morgan. The match was punctuated by numerous yellow cards: four for Newport County (J. Warner, C. Antwi, J. Clarke, C. Baker-Richardson) and six for Gillingham (A. Smith, M. Ehmer, S. Gale, J. Gbode, E. Nevitt, A. Little). Despite the disciplinary issues, the game remained fast-paced until the final whistle, with Newport County managing 18 shots (5 on target) and Gillingham 14 (8 on target).
