Excelsior Edges Out Roda JC in Dominant Home Performance
Excelsior secured a 1-0 victory over Roda JC at the Van Donge & De Roo Stadion in Rotterdam, in a match from round 28 of the 2024 Eerste Divisie season. The game, officiated by A. Lindhout, saw a clear dominance by the home side.
Excelsior controlled a significant majority of possession (71%) and created far more goal-scoring opportunities, registering 20 shots with 7 on target. Roda managed only 9 shots, 4 of which tested the goalkeeper.
K. Pierie scored the only goal of the game in the 59th minute, assisted by L. Duijvestijn. Roda had taken the lead earlier in the 45th minute through a goal by M. Breij. However, Excelsior’s overall control proved decisive.
