PSV Eindhoven suffered a surprising home defeat against GO Ahead Eagles in the KNVB Beker semi-finals, played at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven on February 26th, 2025. Despite dominating possession with 69%, PSV failed to convert their chances, managing 21 shots but only 6 on target. GO Ahead Eagles, with 31% possession, proved more clinical.
The match began with a flurry of goals for the visitors. At the 25th minute, G. Nauber opened the scoring assisted by D. James. Only two minutes later, V. Edvardsen doubled the lead with an assist from O. Antman. PSV tried to respond, but a goal by R. Flamingo was disallowed for offside.
In the second half, I. Perisic scored a penalty for PSV at the 59th minute, reducing the deficit. However, GO Ahead Eagles defended resolutely, and despite yellow cards to several players from both teams, the score remained unchanged. The final victory went to GO Ahead Eagles 2-1, a bittersweet victory considering PSV’s dominance in possession and shots.
