Kashima Antlers and Albirex Niigata played a thrilling match in the 3rd round of the 2025 J1 League, held at the Kashima Soccer Stadium in Kashima. The match, refereed by Tanimoto, Ryo of Japan, ended in a 2-1 victory for Kashima.
The game started with an early goal by R. Koike for Kashima in the 10th minute. However, Albirex Niigata responded with a goal from K. Yamura in the 44th minute, leaving the score tied at halftime. The second half was equally intense. Despite Albirex Niigata having more possession (61% to Kashima’s 39%), Kashima managed to score again through K. Chinen in the 78th minute, securing their victory.
Despite the defeat, Albirex Niigata showed superior offensive play, with 11 shots on goal (4 on target) compared to Kashima’s 12 (3 on target). Albirex also committed more fouls (12 to Kashima’s 4) and received one yellow card. Kashima, on the other hand, had more corner kicks (5 to 3). In short, a closely fought match where Kashima’s finishing proved decisive.
