América Stages Comeback to Defeat Necaxa in Thrilling Match at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes
Mexico City, February 15, 2025 – Club América staged a spectacular comeback to defeat Necaxa 3-2 in a vibrant match corresponding to matchday 7 of the Liga MX Clausura 2024, played at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes. The match was officiated by Mexican referee Mejia Garcia, Oscar.
Necaxa started strong, taking the lead with a goal from Jhonny Paradela in the 3rd minute, assisted by Juan Rojas. Dieter Cambindo doubled the lead for Necaxa in the 31st minute. However, América responded with two goals from Álvaro Fidalgo in the 50th and 60th minutes, the first assisted by Henry Martín. The match remained tense until the end, with a red card for América’s Kevin Álvarez in the 81st minute. Despite the expulsion, Necaxa couldn’t hold on, and in the final minute, Kevin Rosero scored, but it was too late, leaving the final score at 3-2 in favor of Club América.
América dominated possession with 70%, had 15 shots (6 on target), earned 7 corner kicks, committed 6 fouls, and received 2 yellow cards and 1 red card. Necaxa, with 30% possession, had 9 shots (3 on target), 3 corner kicks, committed 10 fouls, and received one yellow card. Despite the final score, it was a match full of excitement, goals, and controversy that kept the fans on the edge of their seats.
